Meet the Columbus Team
Bellwether Real Estate Capital LLC, is merging with Enterprise Community Investment, Inc.'s Multifamily Mortgage Finance business. The new company, Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital, will offer greater geographic reach and product offerings.
The Columbus production team has been working together for over 30 years and has averaged an annual loan production volume of $350 million. This team brings solid experience and borrower relationships in representing Columbus and central Ohio.
Chris Johnson, Senior Vice President: 614-766-1727
Chris has 30 years of mortgage banking experience in Columbus, Ohio. He began in the mortgage banking business in 1977 and served as a Loan Underwriter until 1982. From 1982 through 1986 Chris was the Manager of W. Lyman Case & Company's servicing department responsible for a portfolio of over 300 loans. Chris joined Capstone Realty Advisors in 2002 and subsequently joined Bellwether in 2009. From 1986 to the present Chris has been active in mortgage loan production with various correspondent life insurance companies, pension funds and conduits producing and closing in excess of $1.5 billion during that time. Chris is a 1974 graduate of Ohio Western University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature.
Stanley A. Malatesta, Senior Vice President: 614-766-1989
Stan is a 30-year veteran as a mortgage banker in the Columbus, Ohio area. For more than 25 years he was a principal with W. Lyman Case & Company, which was merged and acquired by Fifth Third Bank in 1998. Stan joined Capstone Realty Advisors in 2002 and subsequently joined Bellwether in 2009. Stan is a past President of the Columbus Mortgage Bankers Association and a past Trustee of the Ohio Mortgage Bankers Association. He is also a past President of both the Ohio and the Central Ohio chapters of NAIOP (National Association of Industrial and Office Parks). Stan attended St. Joseph's College and holds a degree in both Real Estate and Finance from the College of Business Administration at The Ohio State University. Stan is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Ohio and a member of the Columbus Board of Realtors, the Ohio Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
Chip Neale, Senior Vice President: 614-766-2081
Chip has 30 years of mortgage banking experience in his hometown of Columbus. As a member of the original W. Lyman Case & Company team and Capstone Realty Advisors, Chip focused on life company and CMBS business, as well as creating new business. Chip graduated in 1970 from Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1972, Chip received a Master of Business Administration degree from The Ohio State University with a major in finance and real estate.
Scott Williams, Senior Vice President: 614-766-2484
Scott has been involved in commercial real estate financing for more than 20 years and has experience in the investment banking and commercial banking fields. Prior to joining Bellwether, Scott was employed with Capstone Realty Advisors, Fifth Third Real Estate Capital Markets Co. and its predecessor W. Lyman Case & Company, which he joined in 1988. While at W. Lyman Case & Company, Scott initiated that Company's relationship with Freddie Mac. Under his direction, the Freddie Mac product line grew to be a major part of the company's business and W. Lyman Case became one of the most active Freddie Mac originators in the Midwest. Scott has been responsible for the negotiation and processing of more than 160 loans for Freddie Mac totaling over $1.6 billion.
D.J. Effler, Senior Vice President: 614-766-2097
D.J. has 10 years experience in commercial real estate investments in multiple capacities. He began his commercial real estate career at Nationwide Life Insurance Co. in Columbus, Ohio underwriting and originating first mortgage loans on all property types. D.J. then joined RockBridge Capital, LLC, a leading private equity firm focused on providing debt and equity to the hospitality industry and served as a Vice President of both their Investments Group and Capital Markets Group. Most recently, D.J. helped lead the acquisition of a vacant, former Circuit City and co-founded Comfy Couch Co., a retail furniture company based in Columbus, Ohio. D.J. holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Stephen D. Moore, Vice President, 614-766-6280
Steve has worked in commercial real estate for 5 years prior to joining Bellwether Real Estate Capital. Steve began his mortgage banking career with Grandbridge Real Estate Capital in Columbus, Ohio where he was responsible for the origination, structuring and closing of a variety of product types, including retail, office, medical office, industrial, hotel and multifamily properties. Steve has built strong relationships with various capital sources, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, CMBS and life insurance companies. Over the past five years, he has assisted with the origination of more than $300 million in commercial real estate transactions. Steve is the Co-Chairman of the International Council of Shopping Centers Next Generation as well as an active member of NAIOP. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in management from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
